So, you have bought all of the products your hair stylist used and got yourself a round brush, but still cant get your hairstyle to look as silky, shiny and smooth? fortunately, the main reason your hair looks better when the stylist does it has nothing to do with the brush or products. Of course those help, but the biggest reason is quite simple. When we blow-dry our hair at home the method is a bit more like point and shoot the air at the hair. If you were to look at hair through a microscope, it looks like layers of shingles on a roof laying over each other. We’ve all seen those Pantein pro-v commercials, right? When you point the blow-dryer at your hair and blow it around, the blow-dryer is often pointing the air up the hair shaft. This will blow those shingle-like layers up and open. That, unfortunately, creates a dull dry look to the hair. Your hair stylist is standing above and behind you when they blow-dry your hair. This gives them an easy angle to blow the heated air down every hair shaft on your head. This is very easy to do on your own too. This doesn’t mean you have to blow dry your hair flat. Even if you flip your head upside down to get the volume at the crown, make sure your dryer is pointing down the hair shaft at the floor. The little nozzle that a hair stylist uses at the end of a blow-dryer is used to flatten the air flow, is pushed along the hair shaft and slid down it to get that perfect smooth look. Put your hair between a brush and that nozzle, slid down the hair from base to ends and you will have that “just came from the hair salon” amazing hairstyle look.
